Positive Outlook for the Future of Sustainable Aviation Fuels

CSIRO Report: Flight path to Sustainable Aviation

28 May 2011

With emissions reductions and fuel security in mind, Australia and New Zealand's main aviation players approached the CSIRO’s Energy Transformed Flagship to work collaboratively on a study that would help plan a sustainable future for aviation fuels.

The report states “Australia and New Zealand are in a strong position with respect to potential bio-derived fuel production.” Furthermore, it is “estimated that within one decade the region has the potential to supply almost half of the local aviation sector’s fuel needs from biomass”.

Petrochemical refineries can blend Licella’s bio-crude into the refining process by blending it with petroleum crude oil to become jet fuel. Please click here to view the full report.
