Accelerating the Commercialisation of Biofuel Technologies

The Department of Resources, Energy and Tourism has announced that Licella will receive a $5.4m grant under the Advanced Biofuels Investment Readiness (ABIR) Program.

“Technologies such Licella’s, which will produce a ‘drop-in’ alternative to fossil based crude oil, have the potential to directly displace traditional high-emission fuels. It’s promising to see this company take steps to move from a successful demonstration program into the commercialisation space,” Minister Ferguson said.

Members of the biofuel industry, aviation industry and government departments are this week attending the Avalon Airshow to discuss alternative aviation fuels.

The aviation industry is currently responsible for 2 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions, but aims to become carbon neutral by 2020.
