The aviation industry, with its exposure to fluctuations in fuel prices, is especially keen to develop a sustainable bio-fuel industry. The industry has set up the Sustainable Aviation Fuel Users Group (SAFUG) and the Commercial Aviation Alternative Fuels Initiative (CAAFI) to help kick start the industry.
The industry knows this has to happen quickly if it wants to sustain its 3-5% annual growth target and deliver on IATA’s target of having airline emissions 50% less than 2005 levels by 2050.
Traditional biofuels are typically low energy density. Licella’s technology, which delivers a high energy density Bio-Crude oil, is well placed to deliver a sustainable feedstock that can be refined into "drop in" aviation fuel.
Licella is an Australian-based company that has developed a unique process to transform renewable woody-waste materials into an array of biofuels.
The Licella process has been running at our pilot plant at Somersby (just north of Sydney), Australia for over 3 years.
